Robert Sorensen on The Prison Officer Podcast

At SoRite, expertise isn’t a talking point — it’s the foundation. That’s why we’re proud to highlight Director of Strategic Partnerships and Agency Liaison Robert Sorensen in his recent appearance on The Prison Officer Podcast hosted by Michael Cantrell.

In this episode, Robert sits down with Michael Cantrell to discuss the evolving realities facing corrections professionals and the growing importance of practical, mission-driven solutions inside today’s facilities. With decades of federal law-enforcement and tactical experience, Robert brings a perspective shaped not by theory, but by real-world operations, leadership, and accountability.

Robert currently serves as SoRite’s Director of Strategic Partnerships and Agency Liaison, where he leads field engagement and training efforts across law enforcement, corrections, and other safety-critical environments. His background includes service as a GS-13 Special Agent with the Office of Internal Affairs, overseeing nearly 1,000 investigations involving staff misconduct, policy compliance, and interagency coordination with the OIG, NCIS, and FBI. He has also held task force and leadership roles with the FBI and at USP Canaan, contributing to crisis-management and tactical training programs adopted across the Northeast Region.

A nationally recognized instructor and former NTOA Corrections Section Chair, Robert has delivered more than 2,000 hours of training focused on officer safety, tactical decision-making, crisis response, and less-lethal technologies. That experience now informs his work at SoRite, where the mission remains clear: ensure responders are prepared, protected, and equipped with solutions that reflect the realities of the job.

This conversation on The Prison Officer Podcast underscores what SoRite stands for — education over hype, experience over assumption, and leadership rooted in accountability and trust. We’re honored to have Robert representing that standard and continuing to engage directly with the corrections community.

Listen in to hear from a leader who has worked across federal institutions, trained thousands of professionals, and remains deeply committed to advancing safety and readiness for those on the front lines.
