At The SoRite Company, our mission has always been to combine real cleaning expertise with science-backed solutions that actually work in the real world. That expertise recently caught the attention of national lifestyle publication Southern Living, which featured SoRite founder and CEO Autumn Ryan in a recent article about how to properly clean sticky floors without damaging the finish.
Southern Living reached out to Ryan for her professional insight on one of the most common household frustrations: floors that stay sticky even after they’ve been cleaned.
“As we mentioned, still-sticky floors comes from cleaning residue that wasn't properly removed,” said Ryan. “The residue will be more difficult to remove over time. Obviously you can't bring a hose into your house to spray down the floor, but the object is to use enough clean water and fresh towels to rinse your floor as if you're running it under water.”
Ryan also shared a practical technique professionals use to avoid spreading residue during the cleaning process.
“The trick is to avoid re-using towels or mop heads without rinsing because you're just spreading the residue around,” she explains. “Use the 4-fold towel method to get the most from your towel. Fold the wet towel in half, then fold again. Now you have four sides to wipe up the soap or residue. Wipe only once per side!”
Her advice also emphasized the importance of using the right type of cleaner to prevent sticky floors from happening in the first place.
“The best sticky floor preventative is to use a cleaner/degreaser that is a low pH and is non-corrosive and leaves no residue,” Ryan noted. “Then read the label to make sure you are using the correct dilution of the product to water.”
Ryan’s inclusion in Southern Living highlights the growing recognition of her expertise in cleaning science and professional sanitation. As the founder of The SoRite Company in Nashville, Tennessee, she has spent years developing innovative cleaning technologies designed to solve real-world problems in homes, businesses, and professional environments.
